From the earliest days of human exploration, crossing the oceans has been integral to discovering new worlds. Whether we study with awe the skills of ancient mariners plying the seas using celestial navigation or marvel at the 2023 construction of advanced carbon fiber Volvo Ocean Race boats, having the right equipment to support your exploration has always been fundamental.
Such voyages have three parts. First, preparation and setting out, gathering the best equipment, re-testing it, and ensuring that it meets stringent requirements. Second, the voyage itself. The ultimate challenge for humans and machines crossing vast tracts of water to discover new worlds. And finally, arrival in an uncharted land. The first light on a new shore is one of the great wonders.
Geckota Introduces the new Ocean-Scout
Drawing inspiration from this travel philosophy and the need to explore, Geckota introduces the new Ocean Scout. A watch that draws inspiration from a vintage era of travel and sea-borne exploration. A timepiece which has been crafted to accompany you on all elements of your voyage.

A 38.5mm 316L marine grade stainless case, with endpoints specifically designed to accommodate a military nylon strap, will withstand the punishment of the trip. The decision to do away with crown guards on the case projects a vintage look reminiscent of some of the great 1960s dive watches such as the Rolex 6538. Sapphire crystal keeps legibility clear, and various strap options, from a stainless bracelet to rugged nylon, prepare the watch for all occasions. The case back is engraved with a compass logo to reflect the ethos of the watch design.
The blue or black dials are our take on the classic 3,6,9 design. Sword hands complete the vintage look, and the designation Ocean-Scout is bold in red to be under no illusions what the watch was designed for.

A 60-minute bezel in complementing colors or a special edition green completes the external technical elements of the watch and lifts it beyond a basic Field Watch into professional 200m diver territory.
Powering the new Ocean-Scout is the premium automatic Miyota 9039 movement. This slim unit has a diameter of 26mm and a height of only 10mm.
It has 24 Jewels, vibrates at 28,800 bph, and has a Parashock anti-shock system. A power reserve of 42+ hours will keep the watch running, and hand winding and hacking capability will appeal to owners who appreciate direct interaction with their watch.

As part of Miyota’s 9000 family, this calibre falls within their Premium Automatic line. It tells the time via a standard 3-hand display with no date option, and the crown has no phantom crown position.
The Ocean-Scout has a 20mm lug width and is available with three strap options; a steel bracelet, leather strap, or nylon strap, all of which have been carefully coordinated to compliment the case and dials. The high-quality selection is the Berwick Stainless Bracelet in brushed steel, Ridge Military Nylon with matching keepers, and our Stanway leather with a buckle matched to the case.
