Start as you mean to go on - brand ambassador starts the season in pole position...
"Ahead of the 2019 Ginetta GT5 season, British racing diver and brand ambassador Scott McKenna kicks off his season with a bang - by setting a new lap record and further being framed as a championship favourite.
The big first day
The championship launch day was held at Snetterton Circuit, Norwich on Tuesday 9th April. This is one of the first times the racers had an opportunity to get a sense of how the rest of the season will look as well as allowing them to size each other up, gauge tactics or certain driving traits of each other.
Clear skies and a good track temperature were near perfect conditions. Both McKenna and the other drivers shared excited, eager feelings throughout the day with a fantastic shared, positive mood.
Out of the 4 sessions held, Scott topped two of them including, of course, the new lap record.
Scott's thoughts
‘Setting a new lap record and then going on to be framed as a championship favourite...a very successful day. My performance was good, there is always room for improvement no matter if you are the fastest on the track or not. Overall it was an important day for us.'
This success for Scott is fantastic news for us here. Much like Scott, we realise the result of the championship isn't decided on the launch day, however, we're pleased that Scott has made a great start and eagerly wait for the championship to begin.
