Did you stay up past your bedtime on Sunday to watch the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl LVIII?

It was an exciting, tension-building game and one that went into overtime for only the second time in NFL history. We also saw Usher dancing – and heavily sweating – his way through the halftime show on top of a giant clock and at one point, Patrick Stewart attempted to throw Hey Arnold’s head as part of a Paramount+ advert. There was a lot going on, but for us watch enthusiasts, our eyes were fixed on one thing: wrists.

Whether you tuned into the game or not, it’s always fun to see what watches the world’s biggest celebrities and sportsmen choose to wear to an event like this. Some of the choices were anticipated; there’s always plenty of iced-out timepieces and fancy Rolexes making an appearance. But there were also some unexpected watches at the Superbowl 2024 including a Tudor Black Bay and a Casio Calculator watch…

Lil John

Usher wasn't the only one dancing on the Allegiant Stadium field during the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. He was joined by several other musicians including Lil John. The rapper was spotted wearing a Rolex Day Date, one engineered from 18ct yellow gold with a black dial and opulent baguette-cut diamonds set on the bezel.

Christian McCaffrey

Spotted Wearing: Rolex Daytona

American football running back Christian McCaffrey chose a classic for the event with the Rolex Daytona with the panda dial. It looked to be reference 116500 with a 40mm wide steel case mounted on an Oyster bracelet.

Gordon Ramsey

Spotted Wearing: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

British chef Gordon Ramsey is well-known for his extensive watch collection, but for the 2024 Superbowl he elected his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. This model features an 18ct white gold case and a lovely textured navy blue dial.

Jason Kelce

Spotted Wearing: Rolex GMT Master

NFL star Jason Kelce (and brother of Taylor Swift’s headline-making boyfriend) was spotted wearing two watches at the Super Bowl LVIII. On the red carpet, he was seen wearing his Rolex GMT Master in 18ct yellow gold with a black 24-hour bezel and green dial. Later at the after party, he went all out with his diamond-set Breitling Bentley.

John Lynch

Spotted Wearing: Luminor Panerai

John Lynch, the General Manager of The San Francisco 49ers, was caught sporting a Luminor Panerai on the field. It’s difficult to tell exactly which model he owns, but it appears to be a stainless steel reference with a black dial and tan calfskin leather strap.

Chase Young

Spotted Wearing: Patek Phillipe Nautilus

We spotted several iced-out watches at the Superbowl 2024, but one notable model was worn by Chase Young. He chose a Patek Phillipe Nautilus decked out in factory diamonds.

Boomer Esiason

Spotted Wearing: Breitling Chronomat

Ex-NFL player turned CBS commentator, Boomer Esiason, chose his Breitling Chronomat watch for the event. There seemed to be a few Chronomats on the commentator’s table on Sunday, but Esiason nominated one in 18ct rose gold with a chronograph dial.

Quarterback Brock Purdy wore one of the most affordable watches at the 2024 Superbowl, sporting a modest Tudor Black Bay with a black dial and burgundy bezel. He sported the METAS-certified model on a five-row link bracelet.

James Harden

Spotted Wearing: Richard Mille Speedtail Edition

Basketball player and obvious San Francisco 49ers supporter James Harden could be seen rocking his Joe Montana's jersey with a Richard Mille Speedtail Edition watch. This was possibly one of the most expensive timepieces seen on the day, believed to be worth around $992,500.

Floyd Mayweather

Spotted Wearing: Avi & Co

After the Chiefs took the win, former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather was seen celebrating on the field wearing a completely iced-out watch from Avi & Co. This is another highly priced timepiece featuring an 18ct rose gold case and a whopping 122.55 carats of diamonds.

Bill Cowher

Spotted Wearing: Breitling Super Chronomat

Another Superbowl announcer spotted wearing a Breitling Chronomat was Bill Cowher. He chose the Super Chronomat with a two-toned stainless steel and 18ct rose gold case and bracelet, a mint green dial and a diamond-decorated bezel with green ceramic rider tabs.

Cam Heyward

Spotted Wearing: Rolex Yacht-Master

Defensive lineman Cam Heyward chose his Rolex Yacht-Master for the day. It’s an 18ct white gold model with a black rubber strap, black dial and matching black bezel with the 60 minute scale in relief.

Luke Combs

Spotted Wearing: Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph

Country music star Luke Combs attended the Superbowl with his wife while wearing his Patek Phillipe Nautilus Chronograph watch. It appears to be the two-toned reference 5980/1AR-001 with a blue striped dial.

George Kittle

Spotted Wearing: Casio Calculator

Last but definitely not least, one of our personal favourite watches seen at the 2024 Superbowl was worn by American footballer George Kittle. He chose the retro-cool Casio Calculator with a gold-plated case. This was likely the most affordable timepiece seen at the event, retailing for just £55.
