Tissot’s annual limited edition in honour of the MotoGP event is here, and this time it’s a big one as the exhilarating race celebrates its 75th anniversary. The 2024 Tissot MotoGP collection includes two limited editions, one automatic and another quartz.
Tissot has been the official timekeeper to the MotoGP, the world championship of motorcycle racing, since 2001. The Swiss watchmaker’s T-Race collection has appropriately become the home to many racing-inspired watches ever since, in particular to a number of special edition and limited edition designs launched each year in honour of the MotoGP. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the sport and in turn, Tissot has launched two extensions of its T-Race Chronograph Quartz range, three models equipped with a Powermatic 80 movement and a duo of limited editions.

The first of the limited editions is the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Valjoux 75th Anniversary watch which arrives with a Valjoux automatic winding movement. It’s a large watch with plenty of presence sitting at 45mm wide and 14.79mm thick. Its entire design is inspired by the powerful machines found on the MotoGP racetrack; the black PVD bezel mimics the details of a brake disc while the stainless steel case’s middle cleverly copies the cooling fins found on the vehicle’s engines.
It's a 100 metre water resistant watch with oversized chronograph pushers and a fourth pusher placed at 10 o’clock for changing the date. Meanwhile, the dial presents the time, date and chronograph on a navy blue semi-transparent display with red accents in honour of the MotoGP colours. There’s also a tachymeter scale and Superluminova inserts placed on the hour and minute hands and trapezoid-shaped hour markers.

The exact movement used for the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Automatic Chronograph 75th Anniversary is the automatic winding A05 Valjoux calibre with a robust 60-hour power reserve and frequency of 28,800vph. It’s available to view through the exhibition case back when the watch is unstrapped by its textured blue rubber band. This one is a limited edition of 2,024 pieces and retails for £1,950.

Just as bold and assertive, but instead housing a quartz movement, is the second limited edition: the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Quartz 75th Anniversary watch. It has the same motorsport-inspired detailing including a brake disc bezel in stainless steel and handlebar pushers but is instead packaged in a 45mm wide and 11.76mm case. The decreased height is warranted by the classic Swiss made quartz movement housed inside.
The dial is once again finished in a deep navy blue and provides chronograph function and a date window placed at 6 o’clock. Red accents are added to the large Arabic numerals and chronograph seconds hand in a nod to the MotoGP livery and Superluminova provides excellent clarity in all circumstances. The Tissot T-Race MotoGP Quartz 75th Anniversary watch is completed by the same horizontally grooved blue rubber strap and arrives in a cool mini helmet box. This model is limited to 8,000 pieces and retails for £605.
