We sit down with three different takes on very similar watches - have your say in the comments below!
‘What do you think about homage watches?’
A question which always results in interesting responses from watch enthusiasts. Most homages available today are of Rolex models. Sure in the past few years popular steel watches have become homaged with the Nautilus and the Royal Oak being most noticeable, but Rolex is still #1. And which model is king in the Rolex family? Yes, it’s the Submariner.
Today we wanted to look at three different types of Submariners and directly compare them to each other. Watches featured in this article include:
- The Squale Y1545 20 Atmos - £430 (approx.)
- The Steinhart Ocean 1 Black Aluminium - £335 (approx.)
- The Rolex Submariner 16610 from 2008 - from £8,000.
Are any of the watches high quality? How do features like their black dial, cyclops and finishing compare?
They say a picture speaks a thousand words so we're going to let the pictures do the talking and let you form an opinion on the watches based purely on visuals. Don't worry though, we have a few things to say about homage watches in an upcoming article. Oh, and on the closer shots where a brand name or logo isn't visible, we won't label the watch shown so you can try and work out which model it is based on the quality.
