During our time at INHORGENTA 2024, the WatchGecko Magazine team have been grateful to have the opportunity for hands-on time with a variety of impressive timepieces crafted by internationally acclaimed brands, Casio included.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Casio have released a new evolution of the iconic Casiotron QW02. Upon its release in 1974, the Casiotron made history as the world’s first line of digital watches with an automatic calendar function. In commemoration of their exciting anniversary, 4,000 pieces of the new TRN-50 (Casiotron 2024) have been made available for worldwide purchase.

The new TRN-50 showcases the advancements of Casio craftsmanship across the last half-century that has passed since the release of its predecessor. Staying true to the original Casiotron concept, the TRN-50 is a fully automatic wristwatch with modern functionality. Its state-of-the-art features include radio-controlled time adjustment, solar charging and a Mobile Link function that allows wearers to pair it with a smartphone.

With the quality expected of modern watchmaking, the original watch exterior has been recreated with identical size, dark blue face and the CASIOTRON logo all being faithfully reproduced to honour the original 1974 release.
