The Sinn 903 navigation chronograph has been a significant part of the Sinn collection since its birth almost fifty years ago. Having technically begun life as the Breitling Navitimer, the Sinn 903 range is teeming with horological heritage that spans back to Breitling’s liquidation in 1979.

Like many other Swiss luxury brands, Breitling fell prey to the ‘quartz crisis’ and upon closing their doors Sinn were amongst the brands to acquire the rights to their infamous Navitimer model. Keen to produce a similarly recognisable pilot watch with a logarithmic scale and slide rule function, Sinn set to work with 500 of Breitling’s cases and dials.

Over the years the Sinn 903 collection has seen many improvements and modernisations made. This continued consistently up until a complete halt in production occurred two years ago, with Sinn announcing that they would be revising the model and its movement. Fans of the 903 eagerly anticipated the announcement of its return at Geneva’s Watches and Wonders, but the news didn’t come. Until now that is…

Sinn Spezialuhren have finally announced the relaunch of the infamous 903 model series with three new navigation chronographs presented in a completely revised version. Traditionally the 903 models have been offered with 41mm stainless steel cases, but the relaunch sees them redesigned to incorporate a silver-electroplated bezel on the inside of the watch that can be seamlessly operated from the outer diameter. Though it likely goes without saying, the modernised editions still feature their iconic slide rule bezel with logarithmic scale that enable the wearer to calculate times, distance, or fuel consumption.

Readability in all light conditions has been ensured thanks to the incorporation of hybrid ceramic luminous material on the indices, which have been attached by hand, as well as the number 12, and the hour and minute hands. Once again, Sinn have also achieved an impressive water-resistance of 20 bar (200m).

Most interestingly perhaps is the newly incorporated column wheel chronograph movement which offer the latest 903 models a power reserve of up to 60 hours when fully wound.

The three new editions to the Sinn 903 series are available for pre-order now, with shipping anticipated to begin in August 2024. The two permanent models range from €3250 (incl. VAT) dependent on strap choice. The 903 St HB will be produced at a strictly limited quantity of 500 pieces. Offered with both a leather strap and solid bracelet, the limited-edition model is priced at €3650 (incl. VAT).
