If this year has provided me with a single takeaway regarding the British watchmaking industry, it’s that it’s absolutely thriving. Cast your eyes across a map of the UK and horological events are popping up as far as the eye can see. It’s to be expected that the hustle and bustle of the capital would see a fair bit of action in the way of watch shows but with Manchester, Brighton and now Bristol firmly on the radar, we’re finally getting to the point of being spoilt for choice.
On Saturday 23rd November 2024 the Bristol Watch Show will open the doors for its first event in the West of England. Showcasing upcoming British microbrands from Bristol and slightly further afield, the event (which is proudly sponsored by Fears), highlights the talent and craftsmanship of independent watch brands from the area. Giving visitors the opportunity to see and purchase from an exciting cohort of British microbrands as well as connect with likeminded watch enthusiasts all under one roof, the event is just one of many recent displays of the diverse and impressive talent belonging to the British Watchmaking industry.
Set to take place at The Clifton Club, a beautiful regency-era venue just a stone’s throw from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Bristol Watch Show features 9 independent watch brands, 1 Bristol-based vintage and pre-owned dealer and even a panel talk by one of the most interesting women in the community, Britt Pearce (known to many as Watch Gringa).
Amongst the innovative British brands at the show, you can expect to find WatchGecko’s sister brand, Geckota showcasing an array of expertly crafted timepieces. Bringing with them their popular Chronotimers as well as the new Sports Edition, The Bristol Watch Show is the perfect opportunity to get hands-on time with the models and even chat with the founder, Jonathan Quinn.
On the day there will be two sessions; a morning session running from 11am to 1:30pm and a second session in the afternoon running from 2:30pm-5pm. Tickets are available here and are priced at just £10 (excluding booking fees).
