There are some watches I can’t help but get really excited about. Most of them are out of my league in terms of pricing, others however, tick every single box. One of the latter is the Tissot PRX 35mm and as you can guess from the title, the Swiss watchmaker has just arrived with a new line-up of models including a duo of automatics and a very exciting Tissot PRX 35mm Quartz with a mint green, or “Tiffany” dial. Cue unattractive squeal…

Anyone with a slight interest in the watch world will have noticed the increase in integrated sports watches of late. These designs, which take inspiration from wristwear from the 1970’s, often have integrated metal bracelets, tonneau-shaped cases and clean, unimposing displays. Some of the front-line players include the Maurice Lacroix Aikon, the IWC Ingenieur, the Breitling Chronomat and of course, the Tissot PRX.
Back in 1952, Tissot launched a series of waterproof watches called the “Seastar”. Elegant yet capable of being thrown around outdoors, these watches were met with immediate success and were produced in large quantities over the next few decades. In 1965, one particular model was launched called the “Seastar special – PR 516”. This design featured a 100-metre water resistance and a now-familiar barrel-shaped case and integrated bracelet. The PR in the name stood for “Particularly Robust” or “Precision and Resistance”, cementing its reliability and toughness. Fast forward to 2021 and the Swiss watchmaker reinvented the original Seastar by launching the inaugural Tissot PRX. The name cleverly combines the “PR” of its predecessor with an X, the Roman numeral for its 100m water resistance. Ever since, the Tissot PRX has taken the watch world by storm, proving itself as one of the most affordable integrated sports watches on the market.

We’ve seen a huge range of Tissot PRX watches since the launch in 2021. They arrived sized at 40mm with quartz movements before later housing Swatch Group’s well-known Powermatic 80 movement. Shortly after that, the quartz models were available with more compact 35mm cases and even more dial colours were added to the line-up. One of the most popular designs of the last year was the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Mint Green watch - or as some were coining it - the PRX “Tiffany”. Why? Because the watch landed around the same time as the sold-out Patek Philippe X Tiffany 5711 model and as you can imagine, the PRX with a similarly coloured display was a big hit.
Now the Tissot PRX collection receives several new additions including some more highly requested PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 watches and a PRX 35mm Quartz model with the popular mint green dial. Let’s take a look…
The Tissot PRX 35mm Automatics

A couple of months ago, Tissot announced the launch of their first 35mm PRX with an automatic movement. The same highly polished bezels, tonneau-shaped cases, integrated bracelets, textured dials and 80-house power reserves of the large 40mm automatics were present, just in a more compact 35mm-wide case. Expectedly, the Tissot PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 watches have been well-received and in turn, Tissot has already revealed several new colourways to the series.
The Tissot PRX 35mm Automatic was originally launched in stainless steel with a choice of a navy blue, black, green or white mother of pearl dial. Now, the integrated architecture is available in stainless steel with an ice blue dial in reference T1372071135100 or with a gold PVD case and bracelet and a matching gold waffle dial in reference T1372073302100. Beneath the new displays is the Powermatic 80 movement, the Swatch Group’s 80-hour power reserve calibre with an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance hairspring. They offer the same hours, minutes, seconds and date function and come with 100 metre water resistant ratings.

Alongside the two new automatic models above, Tissot has also revealed a new quartz-powered 35mm PRX with the same mint green dial as the popular 40mm automatic from earlier in the year. This is the watch I’m most excited about. Why? Because the colour is just beautiful. Yes, I know there’s a bit of debate as to whether this shade deserves to be coined “Tiffany” since it is a little greener that the famous jewellery maker, but truthfully, that doesn’t matter. This unique, bright green-blue looks amazing on the PRX, especially with the quartz dial’s brushed surface. I’d be intrigued to see what it would look like on the automatic’s waffle dial too though.
The Tissot PRX 35mm Quartz Mint Green watch, which can be found under reference T137.210.11.091.00, delivers the same 35mm cushion-shaped stainless steel case as before with a fixed polished bezel, integrated bracelet and sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. There’s also a respectful 100 metre water resistant rating and a Swiss made quartz movement protected inside. Of course, it’s really the dial here that takes centre stage, offering the familiar silvered faceted markers and slim Superluminova coated hands.
