Built on the success of the Expedition I and II watches, the Expedition Enigmath range consists of three watches that elevate the model to a new technical level. Unlike the existing Expedition models, the Enigmath comes not with a dive or compass bezel but with slide rule calculation capability. Circular slide rules have been on watches for over 80 years, and before electronic technology were the preeminent way of undertaking complex mathematical calculations. As with similar models on the market, the Expedition Enigmath can calculate multiplication, division, speed in either mph or kph, travelling time and distance, and conversions such as kilometres to miles or nautical miles. Using the provided comprehensive guidebook, more advanced use allows the user to calculate aviation data such as fuel consumption, ascent and descent climb rate, and ground distance.
The three models in the collection are technically the same but have different striking colours. The blue lakes at the Coconino Forest Reserve in Arizona inspire the Coconino Blue. Schwartzwald Black is named after The Black Forest in southwestern Germany, and Sinharaja Green takes its title from the Sinharaja Forest Reserve in southwest Sri Lanka. All of which are unique areas to explore with the right equipment.

The dials feature an ombré gradient, darkening as it spreads outward from the centre. Ultimately, we end up with the stark white of the slide rule, which is superbly legible. The 41mm cases are all 316L sandblasted stainless steel, and the dial is visible through anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal. All principal information in
the dial is coated with SuperLuminova, except the slide rule itself. The case has two crowns, the upper differentiated with a red band. This crown adjusts the slide rule, while the lower crown is the link to time adjustment. The case back is clear so that the inner workings can be observed and the glass is etched with mathematical symbols.
The Enigmath range are powered by a Miyota 9039 automatic movement which beats at 28,800 vph and has a 42-hour power reserve. This movement is at the higher end of Miyota's catalogue and is well-proven in its robustness. The watch comes as standard on a canvas strap, which is fitting for such a machine.
