“Go anywhere, do anything.”

Following our visit to Fears earlier this month, we’ve been eagerly waiting to share news of an thrilling new release from the team. Founded in Bristol in 1846, Fears are one of the oldest family-run watch companies in Britain, and a fairly local one to us too, with less than 50 miles between our HQ and theirs.

The first Fears timepiece was engineered in 1846 in the form of a pocket watch, 178 years later, their first launch of 2024 sees a reintroduction of the Redcliff model.

First introduced in 2016, the Redcliff was the first wristwatch to be released by Fears in the 21st century. Now arming their core collection with the refreshed Redcliff 39.5 Date, the Bristolian watchmaker’s honour that heritage with four dazzling new editions.

Arriving in a slim case, the latest rendition of the Redcliff echoes the silhouette of the original quartz version which took its name from the Bristol district where the company was founded in 1846.

Monumental in the re-establishment of their company, the Redcliff is a staple timepiece in the Fears collection. The new mechanical Redcliff Date 39.5 revives Fears’ elegant design language with a refreshing, contemporary twist in the form of lume-filled baton dial and matching hands.

Featuring a contemporary, round 39.5mm case with integrated lugs and a screw-down case back, bezel and crown, the Redcliff 39.5 Date can offer water resistance to 150m (15 ATM). With slim proportions and a case thickness of only 9.95mm, Fears guarantee the Redcliff 39.5 Date can perfectly fit the contours of any wrist.

Featuring automatic winding, quick-set date, and a generous power reserve of 60 hours, with each watch regulated to 0/+5 seconds per day, the new Redcliff 39.5 Date is powered by a customized La Joux-Perret G100 movement which has been made entirely in Switzerland.

Offered on a new and bespoke 3-link bracelet made from 316L stainless steel with an additional, complimentary fabric strap made with tightly 3D woven nylon, the Redcliff 39.5 Date is designed to be worn at all times, for any occasion. Offering sophisticated everyday elegance, the Redcliff 39.5 Date makes its mark in four dial colours: Pewter Grey, Raven Black, Cherry Red, and the Boutique exclusive, Mallard Green.
