Refresh your vintage inspired GMT with some of the hottest watch straps on the market!

Earlier this year, we spent some time with the Baltic Aquascaphe GMT. At the time we could tell it was a watch that was going to enjoy a good strap change. With a simplistic design focus and colourful accents displayed via the dial and bezel, there is just enough happening to make this watch a bit of a strap monster.

Before we jump straight into the combinations, let’s cover a few points we feel you need to know before experimenting with watch straps on the Aquascaphe GMT:
  • The watch has a lug width of 20mm and drilled lugs. These two features should be music to your ears as we offer plenty of 20mm watch straps.
  • Although extremely conventional and familiar in its overall design, the GMT does feature colours that are a little different to the norm. Even this model we have here with the Orange and Blue bezel is justifiably different enough for the colour to impact some strap decisions.
  • Baltic are a brand that has roots in vintage aesthetics, however, the Aquascaphe GMT is surprisingly modern in person. This already overwhelmingly versatile watch is even more so, opening it up to a lot of potential strap options.

Zennor Quick Release FKM Rubber Watch Strap in Orange

We’re kicking things off strong with our first pick. The Zennor FKM in orange is one of the visually strongest combinations we’ve put together for the Aquascaphe GMT. Picking up on the orange found on the bezel, GMT hand and ‘Aquascaphe’ text the Zennor completes the extremely coherent package offered by Baltic.

The choice of orange helps the watch stand out on the wrist and really leans into the summer aesthetic.

Classic Vintage Rivet Berwick Bracelet

The Baltic Aquascaphe GMT arrives on a Beads of Rice metal bracelet as a standard option which is a logical fit for the Baltic and its preference to history. However the Beads of Rice look isn’t for everyone, here is where our Vintage Berwick Rivet steps up.

With a traditional oyster style design the Berwick is a slightly more expected and familiar look for watch fans when it comes to metal straps. The strap also has a rivet design to the end of the metal links which brings the combo full circle and encompasses the ethos of the Baltic brand pretty perfectly.

Besford Premium Quality Leather Watch Strap in Chocolate Brown

We can’t help but include the Besford leather in our strap showcases as it's one of the most popular and attractive straps in the range. Here we see the Chocolate Brown option to add some welcomed subtle warmth to the GMT. Our personal favourite touch here is how the white stitching of the strap matches the white lume of the watch. It’s the little details that matter the most…

The Marine Nationale Military Nylon in Desert Sand & Orange

To wrap up the strap showcase, we are ending on a combination that has learnt from the Zennor we explored earlier and interpreted it in a more subdued way. The obvious reason this combination is a winner is down to that orange stripe throughout the strap. It simply picks up on the orange found on the watch and extends it the whole length of the combination.

The Desert Sand also matches the blue found on the bezel; a win-win combination!
