Our pals over at Tissot have just dropped a number of new releases for us to enjoy. They include a trio of vintage-inspired Heritage 1938 watches, an ice blue dial for its Gentlemen Powermatic 80 watch and a 36mm and 40mm version of the bi-coloured Tissot Seastar 1000. We’ve got all the details here, so let us begin…

I’m a sucker for a timepiece that looks like it’s been pulled from the 1930’s and 40’s, so the Tissot Heritage 1938 collection is a fan favourite for me. As part of their latest batch of releases, the Swiss watchmaker has unveiled three new designs for this collection: two 1938 Automatic COSC models and a single 1938 COSC Small Second reference.
Starting with the former, these watches bring to life the aesthetics of timepieces from the late 1930’s and early 40’s with matte dials, thin polished bezels and flat crowns. Noted under references T142.464.16.332.00 and T142.464.16.062.00, they boast versatile 39mm stainless steel cases with sapphire crystal glass, 50 metre water resistant ratings and exhibition case backs which show off the chronometer-certified ETA 2824 movement with a 38-hour power reserve.
The cases of the Tissot Heritage 1938 Automatic COSC watches are distinctively vintage in their shape, similar to the slender watches worn by gentlemen pre-WWII. Their dials follow suit presenting thin glaive hands and printed Arabic numerals on either a matte salmon backdrop or patina-like black dial. The salmon face utilises black hardware while the black dial uses faux-aged lume and gold-coloured hands.

Sharing many of the same attributes as its brothers above, the Tissot Heritage 1938 Small Second Automatic COSC watch (reference T142.428.11.082.00) has a slightly bolder design thanks to its colouring and addition of two extra complications. The case also sits a little larger at 39mm wide, engineered from 316L stainless steel, but maintains the slim bezel, sapphire crystal glass and 50 metre water resistant rating.
Most of the change is seen on the dial, which integrates a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. The functions are placed on a grained dark grey dial which contrasts to the silver-toned minute track, sub counter and date disc. The hands and numerals differentiate even further in gold. Powering the Tissot Heritage 1938 Small Second Automatic COSC watch is the ETA 2895-2 with a 42 hour power reserve.
While the models above are completed by leather straps, the Tissot Heritage 1938 Small Second adds to its retro personality by arriving on a stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet. Once purchased, you’ll also receive an additional grey leather strap in the box which can be easily swapped over thanks to the quick-release spring bars.

Tissot’s 300m water resistant dive collection also receives two new editions in two-toned steel and gold. The 40mm reference T120.410.22.051.00 and 36mm reference T120.210.22.051.00 continue to offer plenty of functionality for water-based adventures but instead swap out their typically sporty aesthetic with one a little dressier thanks to the splashes of gold used on the dial, bezel and bracelet.
The brushed 316L stainless steel cases are topped by black mineral crystal unidirectional bezels with gold-coloured 60 minute scales. The bezels are finely ratcheted for easy grip and sit beside sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. The dials are generously adorned with Superluminova-coated gold-coloured hardware including two sword-shaped hands for the hours and minutes and a lollipop seconds hand. Powering them, and the date window at 6 o’clock is a classic Swiss quartz movement.

Finally, our final release is this Tissot Gentlemen Powermatic 80 Silicium watch in Ice Blue. It’s no surprise to see Tissot employing their stunning ice-blue dial on more of their models following the success it's had on their rightfully popular PRX model. It’s a beautiful shade of pastel blue and complements the dressy stainless steel case and three-row link bracelet nicely.
Like the Tissot Gentlemen watches before it, the new Ice Blue edition presents a sturdy 316L stainless steel case with a 40mm diameter, fixed polished bezel and two-toned finished bracelet with brushed outer links and polished middle links. There’s also sapphire crystal glass on the front and back of the case, a 100 metre water resistant rating and lume used on the sharp hands and indexes. Powering the Tissot Gentlemen Powermatic 80 Silicium Ice Blue watch is the Swatch Group’s well-known Powermatic 80 movement with a weekend-proof power reserve of 80 hours.

It’s another nice set of releases from Tissot, but of them all, the Tissot Heritage 1938 trio is a favourite for me. As a lover of vintage-inspired timepieces, these are wonderfully executed, especially the small seconds dial with its black, white and gold colourway. The chronometer movement is a nice addition too.
