There are numerous types of advent calendars out there nowadays. From beauty to fashion to all different types of food; there is pretty much an advent calendar for every hobby and lifestyle. Something that has been lacking however is an advent calendar for us timepiece enthusiasts.
There is one luxury watch brand that hasn’t abandoned us though, and that’s NOMOS Glashütte. For 24 days in December, they reveal limited edition watches, accessories and toys as part of a rather ingenious online Christmas countdown. Each day, a new surprise will be revealed which you’ll have the chance of winning. Then after the holidays, the gifts worth over 10,000 euros in total will be sent to the lucky winners.
The concept is inspired by some of the watchmaking developed in the Eastern Ore Mountains birthed at the same time as the idea of the advent calendar in German-speaking countries. There was a desire to count down this important festive period in the Christian calendar and so Christmas clocks were developed at the turn of the 20th century. These clocks housed twelve or twenty-four compartments containing carols or bible verses.
It's safe to say there’s no bible verses in the 2023 NOMOS Glashütte Advent Calendar. Instead, the online countdown will give you the chance to win unique toys like the brand’s TV slide viewer, which shows watchmaking scenes at NOMOS Glashütte, and even a limited edition Tangente watch.
NOMOS has teased that their Tangente 38 – 50 ans de Médecins Sans Frontièr limited edition watch will be one of the gifts available in the advent calendar. The modern, minimalist timepiece is one of the German watchmaker’s bestsellers and has been a part of the watch range, unchanged, for over 30 years. Usually, this model retails for £1,820 so it will certainly be a nice post-Christmas gift to receive!
The NOMOS Glashütte Advent Calendar has been an ongoing tradition for ten years now, and for the first time, the brand has announced that the entire online countdown will remain available until December 24th. This means that even if you join in later, you can still browse every facet of the NOMOS world and enter the giveaway for every gift.
