German watchmaker Junghans is showing its true colours – literally – with a new trio of Meister Fein Automatic watches in Petrol & Artic Blue, Moss & Apple Green and Blackberry & Pink.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Junghans, especially those in the Meister collection. The Junghans Meister Damen was one of the first luxury watches I ever got to wear, and I loved it so much I took it with me on my first trip to Baselworld many moons ago. To this day, the Junghans Meister family has looked at me longingly, appealing to my love of contemporary, minimalist design. They’re also reasonably priced for automatic winding watches.
The Junghans Meister family has several sub-collections within its line-up including the dressier Meister Classic, the sporty Meister Driver and the cockpit-inspired Meister Pilot. Then there’s the Junghans Meister Fein, a resolutely simple, pared-back watch which beautifully epitomises the brand’s straight-forward design philosophy. For the watch’s latest instalment, Junghans adds three new sunray-brushed dials, accompanying leather straps and a diamond-decorated 12 o’clock marker to the mix.

The Junghans Meister Fein Automatic 2023 Watches
The new Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches feature many of the brand’s signature styles, most obviously slim, bezel-less cases in stainless steel. The cases measure to 39.5mm wide and only 10.3mm tall and are entirely polished for a modern, dressy look. There’s also domed sapphire crystal glass to complete its rounded profile, a small, knurled crown at 3 o’clock and short, almost invisible lugs for holding the trio of leather straps.
Typically, Junghans chooses classic colours for its dials, especially in its Meister collection, nominating timeless hues of white, silver, black or navy. That’s not to say Junghans doesn’t have a playful side however, and the new dials of the 2023 Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches are a perfect example of that. The three models showcase vibrant centrepieces of Blackberry & Pink, Petrol & Artic Blue, and Moss & Apple Green with sunburst decoration. The latter expertly allows the colours to subtly change in shade depending on how the light falls.

The dials of the Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches also still relatively minimalist in their presentation. They boast three super thin silvered hands for the hours, minutes and seconds, a small date window at 3 o’clock and printed stick hour markers in pink, blue or green depending on the model. Another obvious new feature for the Meister’s dial is the 12 o’clock marker which unique to Junghans has eight encased diamonds down its length. It’s actually a really nice touch and adds to the spirited nature of these watches.
The movement within the Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches is nothing out of the ordinary. The self-winding J800.1 calibre drives the hours, minutes, seconds and date function and provides a 38 hour power reserve. The curved sapphire crystal case back allows you to witness some of the decorative features of the movement. To match with their new dial colours, the Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches are complimented by a trio of leather straps in pink, blue or green.

Conclusion
The new Junghans Meister Fein Automatic watches are a winner for me. They prove the German watchmaker is still alive and kicking, and able to still experiment with materials and colours, even within one of their oldest and most respected collections. They certainly fit nicely into the current trend of colourful watch dials too, something you can read more about in this article here. And in the same way, they beg the question: are they designed for men, women or both? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below!
