Named in honour of its “Precision and Resistance” or for being “Particularly Robust”, in 1965 new designs by Tissot led to the emergence of the PR 516. Afforded the number 516 as the 16th model in the 5th (water-resistant) series, the collection has grown since, in terms of its references but also in popularity.

Fast forward to the present day and February 2024 sees Tissot announce the launch of a new PR516 collection which is set to symbolise a new chapter in their extensive watchmaking history. Reinterpreting the highly revered 1970’s model, the collection features an updated vintage design and includes a mechanical chronograph model and three quartz variants.
Celebrating Tissot’s high-end craftsmanship, the PR516 mechanical chronograph features the Valjoux A05 manual winding Swiss movement which was manufactured exclusively for use in the new Tissot range and is a nod to the rich heritage of the collection it is directly inspired by.

Giving the timepiece a distinct presence on the wrist is the 41mm diameter case with glass-box style sapphire for a high-end final look. Also offering a fascinating look into its mechanism is the open back, highlighting the timepiece’s meticulous artistry and the complexity of its craftsmanship.
With a further three quartz versions available, wearers can continue to benefit from the high levels of optimal precision the PR 516 range is known for. Almost identical to the mechanical variation, the three quartz models provide access to Tissot heritage at a considerably more affordable price point. Featuring a slightly smaller 40mm case, these variations come equipped with the G10.212 Powerdrive movement, synonymous with practicality and reliability.

With a laurel wreath, sports car steering wheel and the number 516 engraved on the case back, the rich symbolism of Tissot’s racing heritage, and particularly the heritage of the PR 516 range, is right there with you.
