The fifth edition of LVMH Watch Week is taking place right now in Miami, Florida and alongside TAG Heuer, Hublot and Bulgari, Zenith is showcasing some brand new launches for 2024. This time round, the Swiss Maison is focusing their attention on their Chronomaster watch, unveiling a long-awaiting Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar and two versions of the Chronomaster Sport.

A watch that we haven’t seen for quite some time is Zenith’s triple calendar chronograph. But for LVMH Watch Week 2024, that very model is making its grand return, cleverly utilising their balanced triple calendar chronograph display powered by their El Primero high-frequency movement.

Interestingly, when the El Primero movement was created, it was designed to accommodate a triple calendar and moonphase complication alongside its high-frequency chronograph. But following the success of the core chronograph version, the triple calendar variation was put on hold and was eventually launched during the 1970’s with a fitting space-age design. Despite the delay, the model still became the world’s first automatic chronograph with a full calendar and moon phase.

The six new references launched today are clear tributes to the original, and not just vintage-inspired as so many retro interactions are these days. The exact blueprint and proportions of the 1969 original are delivered including a 38mm wide stainless steel case with a bezel-less construction, raised and domed sapphire crystal glass and of course, the layout of the chronograph and triple calendar display.

The dial arrives in three colours: a silver-white “panda” opaline dial with black counters and 1/10th second scale, an opaline slate-grey dial with contrasting white counters or sunburst olive-green with silver counters. The latter is a Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Boutique Edition available only at Zenith physical and online boutiques. All three dials are adorned with polished rose gold hardware for the hands, markers and moon.

Powering the new Zenith Chronomaster Triple Calendar watches is the latest generation of the El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre. Named the El Primero 3610, it beats at a rate of 36,600vph, delivers a true 1/10th of a second chronograph function and will run for 60 hours off the wrist before needing rewinding. The movement and its five-pointed star-decorated rotor can be viewed through the case back.

No doubt the Zenith Chronomaster Triple Calendar watches have stolen the show for most of you, but alongside this mega launch, the Maison has also delivered two new sporty Chronomaster Sport watches. The first arrives with a striking green ceramic bezel and dial and debuts the line’s new integrated rubber strap in the same hue.
The reference presents the Chronomaster Sport’s 38mm steel case and a green dial paired with shades of grey and blue on the counters. The date wheel is coloured to match the rest of the display while the hands and markers stand out in rose gold. There’s also domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, a transparent case back and a water resistant rating of 50 metres.

Bringing with it a bit more sparkle, there’s also a Zenith Chronomaster Sport Boutique Edition which see’s the model introduce a gem-set bezel for the very first time. This model is machined from 18ct rose gold and is set with baguette-cut white diamonds, black spinels and grey and blue sapphires. The coloured gemstones have been purposely chosen to follow the El Primero’s trademark tricolour scheme.
The dial of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport Boutique Edition is just as flashy, cleverly grafted from a slab of meteorite hand-finished with a golden hue to match the case. The dial is also joined by baguette-cut diamond hour markers, applied chronograph counters in grey and blue and a gold-toned date wheel. Like the green ceramic model, the novelty is powered by the El Primero 3600 movement with a 36,600vph frequency, 60-hour power reserve and true 1/10th of second indication.
