In 2024, Tudor proved once again why the Black Bay collection remains its crown jewel. From subtle upgrades to bold new variations, this year’s releases redefined versatility and vintage charm for modern wrists. Whether you're a diver, a collector, or simply a fan of timeless design, the 2024 Black Bay lineup has something to turn heads and ignite conversations. Without further ado, let’s remind ourselves of everything the brand did right this year…

Black Bay Chrono “Pink”

The Black Black Bay Chrono “Pink” was the watch that kicked off a successful season of new releases for Tudor in 2024. Taking a colourful approach to a line-up that had, up until now, been pretty conventional, the Black Bay Chrono “Pink” saw a Pink Panther adjacent dial making its mark on the iconic model. Known historically for its arguably conservative and vintage-inspired references, shaking the Black Bay up with a more playful hue earned Tudor the admiration of an eager-eyed younger generation of collectors and enthusiasts, as well as reminding die-hard fans exactly what the brand were capable of. Loud, distinctive and injected with a spirited attitude, the Black Bay Chrono “Pink” was an encouraging sign of things to come for Tudor in 2024.

Q2 meant it was time to roll out the red carpet for Watches and Wonders 2024 and the glamour of the Swiss event seemed to demand an equally glamorous line-up of novelties. Rising to the occasion, the Black Bay 58 was bedecked in 18-carat yellow gold with an open case back to reveal the MT5400 COSC movement. Offered at over £27k, the Black Bay 58 18K represents the top-end for Black Bay’s currently on the market. Making waves in the precious metals sport watch category, the new 58’s green bezel and dial were met with some surprise and resistance but coupled with its subtly understated brushed yellow gold, it just works.

Naturally though, the W&W releases weren’t going to stop there. Next on the line-up was something far more restrained with a line extension that was delivered without updates to the model, movement, strap or bracelet options. Draining the colour from its 41mm Black Bay, the new Monochrome opts for an unfussy grey-scale colourway for those seeking a simple staple daily beater that competes with the Submariner in everything but the price tag.

Black Bay 58 GMT

Answering the prayers of many, the final W&W Black Bay came in the form of a highly awaited smaller, slimmer GMT watch from Tudor. The Black Bay 58 GMT wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it certainly seemed to address the desires of the enthusiast community who didn’t appreciate the chunkier case offered with past GMT models. More compact without sacrificing its travel functions or dive capability, the new BB58 GMT ticked all the boxes with its slimmer crown, 39mm diameter and 47.8mm lug to lug.

Having been spotted on the wrists of F1 superstars Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda at the start of the season, we eagerly awaited the official unveiling of this intriguing bright blue version of the Black Bay. At last, in July, Tudor finally came right out with it and presented us with the Black Bay Ceramic “Blue” in collaboration with VCARB (the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team). Other than the elusive blue dial, there weren’t too many surprises here and the 41mm Black Bay fitted a theme that Tudor have long established. Interestingly though, the Black Bay Ceramic “Blue” leans away from an uber obvious racing affiliated design, forsaking any mention of the VCARB collaboration.

Considering Tudor weren’t participating in Geneva Watch Days this year you could say it was quite generous of them to spoil fans with something to sink their teeth into anyway. Smack bang in the middle of the five-day event, Tudor snuck in with a follow-up to their “Pink” BB iteration from earlier in the year. With its origins stemming from ties to the French Royal Navy, the newly decorated Black Bay Chrono “Blue” brings the emblematic ‘Tudor Blue’ to a Chrono model for the first time. Accentuating the brands own significant heritage into a line that had previously been comparable to the Daytona, it seems the future of the Black Bay could see it step out from behind the shadows of its big brother once and for all.

So, that concludes our whistlestop tour of the Tudor Black Bay’s of 2024! The comments are open, as always, and we’re keen to hear which release ticked the boxes for you. Was it the sassy pink number or the more sober monochrome? Maybe blue is more your thing… Whichever one floats your boat; we can’t wait to hear about it.
