Whether it’s a wayfarer, seafarer, farfarer or simply, farer, we’re talking about, the very nature of the Farer name signifies the brand’s deep alignment with the needs of those who travel. It’s almost too easy a guess from there which complication the British watchmaker’s feel most accurately represents their true spirit.

The GMT

Having already delivered a staple range of GMT-equipped watches, including the popular Meredith GMT Limited Edition, Farer have long established themselves as a purveyor of striking, robust and functional watches able to stand out in any time zone. As a natural fit for the travel-focussed brand, Farer have today announced the release of the latest GMT watch to their already popular collection.

The new Limited Edition Banzare GMT is housed in a 39.5mm steel case with compact lug-to-lug and thickness measurements for easy wearability. Blending a variety of finishes across the case, the lug tops have been brushed whilst the rounded case sides and bezel have a classy, polished finish.

Similarly to the other Farer GMT models, the Banzare GMT is powered by the Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement. With its 56-hour power reserve as standard, for this edition Farer have opted to use the “Top Grade” version, meaning accuracy has been enchanced in 5 positions.

For the first time, Farer have experimented with a new dial finish. Stamped with a deep-ridged sunburst texture in relief, the dial of the Banzare GMT sees the London-based brand play with colour in a way that is not unexpected from them, but still welcomed. Presented in rich and plummy tones that transform into a metallic mulberry shimmer with the right light, the Banzare GMT incorporates blue accents as well as its striking orange GMT hand for easy readability at a glance. Protected under boxed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, the Banzare GMT is water resistant to 100m.

Allowing the wearer to read two time zones simultaneously, the Banzare GMT incorporates mounted polished steel markers which have been generously filled with Super LumiNova, as has the polished sword handset.

Limited to just 150 pieces, the Banzare GMT takes its unusual name from the British Australian (and) New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition. The acronym for this project, BANZARE, was a research expedition into Antarctica that took place from 1929 to 1931. Tasked with the mapping of the Antarctic coastline, the mission of BANZARE aligns perfectly with Farer’s travel inspired roots.
