The charming, French watch brand have been around since the 40s and were responsible for the creation of the very first French watch to make it to outer space. The very first Yema Superman was released slightly before that astronomical event, in 1963.

At a time when the demand for dive watches had exploded, the inaugural Yema Superman was developed for diving professionals. It featured impressive 300m waterproofing and a unique bezel-lock, making it the perfect candidate for adventures under the depths. The Superman soon proved it was capable of much more than diving and thanks to its perceived indestructability was selected by the French Air Force to equip its pilots.

Thanks to more than two years of rigorous development in-house at Yema, the creation of an ultra-thin micro-rotor caliber has been achieved and due to its smart architecture, the new caliber is able to equip sleeker, more refined cases. The French made Micro-Rotor Caliber Manufacture Morteau 20 (CMM.20) boasts optimised mechanical accuracy with near chronometer-certified performance and a whopping 70-hour power reserve.

Over the years we have seen many iterations of the Superman take their place in the collection, but now eager-eyed connoisseurs will see the Superman take on a more streamlined, elegant look in the form of the Superman Slim. The new 39mm 316L Stainless Steel case is distinguished by its curved 20mm lugs and brushed finishes with slightly rounded polished bezel.
Despite the case being slimmed down by 1mm, the Superman Slim is still able to offer a water resistance of 300m. Thanks to the sapphire case back and a screw-down crown, the Superman’s heritage as a tool watch for diving professionals need not be compromised regardless of case size.

Proudly Frenchified
To distinguish the Superman Slim from the Classic Superman, the sleek lacquered dial displays the inscription MANUFACTURE FRANÇAISE at 6 o’clock to reflect the internalisation of manufacturing for the CMM.20 at Yema. The hands have also been subtly refined, with a Super-LumiNova treated slender stick second hand replacing the iconic “shovel”.

The Superman Slim features a 2.00mm thick double-domed sapphire glass which not only helps to achieve an authentic vintage aesthetic but provides improved readability and resistance to shocks and scratches. Sapphire glass is also featured in the case-back which allows for an awe-inspiring view of the CMM.20.
